Among Us – The game that has saved my pandemic life

Arpita Sharma Life

This post is to convince you that Among Us is the best thing ever and you need to try it ASAP. For those of you lost in the void, Among Us is an online multiplayer social deduction game developed and published by American game studio Innersloth. One of my friends introduced me to this game a few months ago and it has become the game we turn to each week to hang out. During a time when we all feel extremely socially isolated, this game has brought so much joy to my life. It was literally the thing I did with my friends to count down the new year. And it is one of the few ways that I get to spend time with people building joy instead of wallowing in our collective suffering during the pandemic. Here are some tips for you to make Among Us work for you:

Find as many people as possible

It’s a 10 person game (if played for max enjoyment), so it’s best to invite anyone you know to come and play. It’s easy to play with complete strangers because you don’t need to know anything about each other to win.

Set up some time to learn how the game works

There are different maps you can use, accessories for players, and strategies for the imposter and the crewmates to learn. Make some time in the beginning so that everyone gets their questions answered.

Schedule time to hang out and play in advance

I’ve been able to do this by just inviting people on Facebook messenger a day or two in advance. It helps if you have friends that like the game too – so that you can join their crews.
